A balance board can be used both for training and simply for everyday movement at home.
People use it to improve balance, coordination, stabilization and body control. It works for surf training, snowboarding, skateboarding, yoga, fitness or simply as a way to move a little after a long day.
Do I need a mat?
Not necessarily.
The cork-covered roller and rounded stoppers allow for comfortable riding without a mat on most flat surfaces.
Riding a balance board always depends on the surface underneath it. The harder the surface, the faster and more responsive the roller feels.
For beginners, a mat can still be a good option at the start because it slightly slows the roller down and makes balancing easier.
We do not recommend using the set on wet or slippery surfaces.
Beginner advice
Your first balance board sessions will probably look a little funny. That’s completely normal - we’ve all been there. And honestly, we’re a little jealous, because the beginner stage is where most of the fun happens.
For your first rides, we recommend starting near a wall, on a mat or with a friend holding your hands. It helps you understand the roller movement and find your balance more easily.
The best way to ride is barefoot or in shoes with good grip. The board can feel slippery in socks.
